Which Version of Blower Motor Do I Get?
I'm going to buy a new blower motor and have my indie replace it (for a 91 300D)....it's squeaking pretty bad. But as I look on Fastlane, I'm confused by the choices. I would just need the motor, right, and not the squirrel cage (I guess that's what they mean by "fan")? But the Behr with the squirrel cage does have a dust filter. That's $328.
The other option is just the motor by Bosch, Behr, or ACM for 102, 234, and 181, respectively. Any reason not to just get the Bosch? Thanks.

I guess the related question is whether my exisiting fan would fit whatever blower I got. I'm sure blower is original.

You need the early version w/o dust filter, different motor and blowers.

What do you mean by "early version?" Also, I wonder how much labor is involved in detaching and reattaching the squirrel cage to the motor....maybe that labor cost would offset by simply buying the entire assembly.

The early is the one without the dust filters, which IIRC started in MY '94.
Removing and refitting the blowers is difficult if there is rust on the shafts, and they need to be in exactly the right position. Can be done.
