Transmission shifting hard

Good Day! I have read through this post by FrankStallone:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/217770-124-rough-shifting-transmission-diag-questions.html

It describes my situation perfectly. As I am preparing to undertake this project, Frank refers to a Mityvac. I looked on e-Bay and they have several models for approximately $35. How do I know which one to purchase? I am essentially learning how to maintain my baby. Please help...

TIA,
glenn

Most any of them will do. I got the MV8000. I liked this model because it came with a lot of different tips in different sizes for connecting to various sized fittings. I have used it on my transmission, brakes, hvac, euro headlights, engine etc. without having to buy anything else. I actually got mine at harbor freight for $40.

The simple version is plastic, with vacuum only. The better version has a pressure side to the gauge (useful), and I believe that there is a metal version.

Go with the pressure/vacuum gauge model.

Mightyvac is the name of a company and on this forum is used like Coke is used to mean a Cola Softdrink.
I have been using my Actron Mightyvac type tool since the 1980s and it has never broken and still works fine.
Mine made in the US; this may not be the case any more.
My personal thought is that an all Plastic one no matter the quality may get broken if stuffed inside of a Tool Box or falling. But, no one on this forum has complained of that happening.

For simply measuring the Vacuum a Vacuum Gauge could be used. However, overall a Mightvac type tool is more useful.
I think you will be better off buying one made by a brand name company than a generic Chinavac.
