Block heater throws breaker -- intermittently
I've just started plugging in my '85 300d and I'm having a problem whereby the block heater blows the breaker in the GFI outlet, but not consistently. I have one string of outside lights and a battery blanket (80w, I believe, don't exactly remember) plugged into the same outlet, but it happens only when the block heater is plugged.
Sometimes it does it once or twice (immediately) when I first plug it in. Then it's fine for the rest of the night. Other times it stays on most of the night but seems to trip the breaker around 6-7 a.m. I had a NOMA inline timer on it and thought at first this was the culprit (had issues with cheap NOMA cr@p before) but I took it out of the equation and it's happened again. Is it the outlet box that needs replacing? It's about 10 years old. The main breaker on the panel never trips, just the outside one. As far as I am aware the circuit is functional to 1500w and nothing in the house, or outside apart from what I listed, should be running on it.

GFIC outlets are crud. replace it with a new one, and it'll likely go away.
