why is my wiper stuck??help please !!

Hi all, yesterday it was raining heavily, and i had to take my car out, i used the wiper which seems to take its time to sweep off the water droplets on the windscreen, the way it swept didn't seem normal to me, it was struggling to return back to its position and at one point just got stuck half way,and i can hear the motor run its not able to get back !! i would appreciate some help and suggestions.

Model : w124, 1987 300D

Thank you !!

Check the fuse box and make sure you didn't blow the fuse for the motor.

How long since the Monowiper was serviced?

If you don't periodically clean and Lube the moving parts inside the Wiper Head
sooner or later it'll grind to a halt.

Also there's at least one Plastic gear that may have gone bad.

Odometer Gears - Mercedes-Benz - 124 Chassis 84-95 Mech.

I am going to check the fuse right away, and yes she's been sitting for a long time and needs to be lubed. thank you so much, ill have a check !!

!!! 100.00!!! just for the gear? wow...

my wagon quit last month... I just cleaned the window, and treated it with rainx, and I'm fine for now, but it'll not help with snow/ice/frost... so I've gotta fix it soon... I have spare cars to pull from though... and I"ve got a 95 with it's upgraded transmission to install!

I did remove the 16A red fuse and installed a new one,and turned on the ignition, seems like the motor sound stopped. but the wiper still seems to be stuck , i suspect the plastic gears !! or does it need lubrication. i feel good the motor stopped or could have damaged the motor. any suggestions thank you !!!

Take the Mono Wiper "Head" apart and "See"

"It's either electrical (switch, relay, fuse, wiring) or mechanical gears."
With a DMM check that there's power to the wiper motor from the above.
(The Multi-Function Switch has been known to Go South.)

Then ,if no joy, have at the MW itself.

It's either the Gearing,Lever Arms or the Motor itself.

The fact that you "Heard" the Motor running without any movement points
towards the Electrical or Gearing.

This will get your Mono Wiper off the Windshield:

PeachPartsWiki: Blower Motor Removal

Then you follow the FSM on removing the screws
(Underneath the Head) which secure the head to the Apparatus.

VS,

The Original Gear is just "Plastico" and the "ODO GEARS" stuff is MUCH more
durable.Plus he guarantees the new gear forever.
