My two weeks of vacation are almost up so, alas, my inquiries need to come to an end. But really, is there no limit to people's lack of realism?

Take this one:

Classic 1983 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel - $9500 (South Windsor)

Classic car in great condition. 1983 Mercedes Benz 300 D Sedan, Turbo diesel, gold, beautiful tan leather interior, exterior body great, mechanically sound, 192K miles....hard to find car and color. only 2 owners over life of car, non-smoking. call or text 860-305-4510. Generated lots of inquiries before we ever decided to sell....so now is your chance.

So I call on it just for fun. I ask if, considering the asking price, it's in "collector's condition." The guy goes on to say interior is really nice, but that the body does have some rust spots, but they haven't progressed much.

AND HE'S ASKING $9500!!!!!

MORE reasonable, yes.

Called on it....language barrier made it difficult to get much of a sense of the car.

Here is another, I would love to own it but $7900!

Rule of thumb:

"Ya don't ask.....ya don't get"

$7900 does seem to be a bit steep considering the cargo nets are sagging and the seats look more than gently used. Definitely NOT Mint.

You beat me, I was just thinking of this car, saw it a few nights ago. is a nice looking car.

82 240D $7500, one owner 223K, but looks very detailed, and that old and miles paint looks too good. steering wheel, pretty smooth. drivers seat bolster looks some what worn, so maybe a little old lady owned it? On a dealer lot now. nice shiny tires.;)

This is listed in the Mercedes listing, but here is your chance to get out from under all that constant tinkering on these old Mercedes, and swap it in on this nice reliable British car. :rolleyes:
