I just decided to clean the door contacts with steel wool and the window works again.

It's fast going down but halfway up it slows down. I also found in the door what appear tone plastic guides. Buti cannot find a home for them

Window is all back together. But it is still slow halfway up. What could be causing this.

The passenger side is the same way, if not slower both directions.

Dont know about the 124, but on my 123 I started blowing fuses and having otherwise bad window operation when the insulation rubbed off the wires where they travel from the door to the door frame near the hinges. Check to make sure that the little accordion looking boot that houses the wires between the door and the car is still there, and if it is just slip it back with a screwdriver to check the condition of the wires. It only takes a second!

I'll double check that, but cleaning the contacts helped with the original motor. I swapped the motors out just because I have another.

I had to play with adjusting where the slide bolts onto the window and now it goes up and slows down a bit halfway. I really had to play with it since it was either binding going up or vibrating the door violently as it went up.

Tips anyone?

That's a known issue on the 124. I mentioned it to the OP several months ago in a different thread.

I checked, it's fine. I'm going to tear IMO the other door and clean the contacts to see if that helps it speed up.

Driver window also goes up and down perfectly. Couldn't be better.

I frequently have cars come in with this issue.

More than half the time (previous repair):
* The window glass slipped out of the correct slot on the bottom forward/rear slot of the glass guide.
* The forward/rear window guide rubber is twisted - binding the glass as it raises/lowers.

This tool makes diagnosis easier.
