Injector leakage on a OM602?

I have what at first I thought was a miss on my 87 190D Turbo. If I slighty let up on the brake when idleing in gear it will slightly lurch because of one cylinder (at first I thought it was a miss). I used my IR gun to check exhaust manifold temps. At idle #2 cyl is about 20 deg hotter than the rest. It seems maybe it is getting too much fuel. Does that sound right? I did replace the fuel delivery valves a little while ago but I am not sure if it related.

Any ideas what might be wrong? I know there is no W201 love here so imagine I have a W124 or a OM603 W126.

Why don't you remove the injector and check if it has a bad nozzle or a damaged spring which is injecting a lot more diesel than it should.or is it leaking from the neck of the return line. which ever, i think you should remove the injector and have it checked or check it.

I was checking to see if anyone has seen anything similar before I tear into it.

Well I swapped injectors and #2 cyl is still running hotter at idle. Using the IR gun on the manifold #2 is 220-225 F. The others are 190-195 F. Other than more fuel I cannot think why it would be hotter. I can actually feel it surge if I let the car creep at idle. Any ideas what could cause this? Thanks

Perhaps a compression test would be a good move before any tearing apart.

I was thinking about doing that next. Can the IP give more fuel to an individual cylinder?

yes.
delivery valves can be installed/adjusted incorrectly, resulting in uneven fueling...

search glow plug thermocouple for MANY threads discussing this... along with many threads and opinions for balancing it... personally, I'd pull the IP and take it to a bosch shop for balancing...

Whatever the problem is it seem to be getting worse. The lifters on one cylinder is ticking and I can hear one cylinder sounding different when I put my ear to the intake vent in the fender. It also has a slight vibration when I rev it from idle. Cyl 2 is still 20-25F hotter than the rest.

I bought a HF compression tester today and it does not have a fitting for a OM602. I need to find on now.

Well, I ran a compression test. It was done with a cold engine, I could not find an injector fitting so I had to use the glow plug holes.

Not sure what this is indicating. There is not puffing out the oil fill when the cap is removed while running. I was thinking maybe a leaking valve but I do not see how that could make the exhaust temp higher on #2. It seems #2 is within the 10% rule. Any ideas?
