MPG for the 90's S300sd & S350

Are the MPG for these years really avg around 20-23? I see the E series can avg into the high 30's and wanted to see if some of these owners could confirm this for me. I know they are heavier vehicles but did not realize that their mpg would be that much lower than the E class. Thanks

32 - 35 in my two '95 E300 cars with the inline diesel.

I have a friend who has a '94 S320 that he says gets ~25 mpg highway.

'91 350SDL mileage

My wife's daily driver sees a mix of 90 percent city/rural stop and go and 10 percent interstate. She checks every fill up. Depending on the ambient temp you can see it vairy from 22-25 mpg. On a total interstate trip 26-29 mpg.

Later 140 SDs are more optimistic -

AFAIK there is no difference in the drivetrain from '92 to '95 that explains why the jump in EPA rating.

Estimated annual fuel cost $782. I love it. I wonder what the cost per gallon figured into that equation in 1995.
