Estimated Value of a 1987 300SDL ??

I'm considering selling my 1987 300SDL. It is in fair to good condition, with 312,xxx miles. I replaced the transmission last year with one with about 170,xxx miles, The turbo was rebuilt the year before that.

Last month I put on four new brake disks and shoes, four new shocks, and new front wheel bearings.

It starts, runs, and drives great, but the interior and paint (clearcoat) are showing its age and wear. It has a few shopping cart dents, and one line of rust at the right tail light.

What is something like this worth?

I'd say $2500-3500 if it needs nothing.

#14 head? Working AC? Recent suspension work? Uncommon options like heated seats or reclining rear seats? WVO history?

I think it has the better head, but only because it has not had any problems there. How do I check for #14?

The A/C works good. It has a replacement fluid, instead of R-12.

The idler shock was replaced recently, other than that and the shocks, no suspension work.

No special seats or heaters.

Never used WVO, has only burned pump diesel.

Check the head casting number near the #2 injector. It'll be something like 603 XXX YY 16. YY tells you the casting sequence. 14 is original to the 3.0 and most prone to cracks when overheated. 17 is original to the 3.5 (rod bender), then 18, then 20, then 22. I've heard of 15s and 16s but I think these are for non-turbo applications.

Ok, the number in the casting is: R603 016 14 01

So I guess it is a 14?

It's a 14. It might not mean anything but some buyers might offer more for a 17 or talk you down more because of the 14.
