Hi everybody, new MB diesel owner, I've had other diesels but not one this much fun to work. I think I'm a lucky guy, because even though this car was extermly poorly maintained, Ive only had to do minimal work to get it running properly.New battery, got rid of egr, oil change fuel filters, cleaned the alda, stopped a few vacuum leaks. next week I'm doing Valve adjustment and adjust tranny.. jerks in 1 st gear. anyway all of diesels I've been around always have a fuel line dryer that you had to empty every so often. do the cars not have one? I dont have a shop manual yet so I thought I would ask here. Thanks Jp

Welcome to the forum, JP.

I've seen people talk about the fact that the older VWs had a water separator but I don't recall if Mercedes ever delivered their diesels with one, in the old days.

Some people install them aftermarket but I don't recall much of any discussion of them on this group.

As to why... no idea.

Welcome!

the "Spin on" fuel filter has water separation built in, but it does not have a drain...
