Oil Drain Plug size...
So a previous owner has boogered up the oil drain plug pretty well. Since I have had the car, I have used vise grips to remove it for oil changes. Now I have tried multiple times to find a replacement drain plug from various vendors but all of them seem to be slightly bigger than the current one? I mean a couple dollars is a couple dollars but so far I have bought 4 with no luck.
It's a 85 300D W123. Seems to be the same part number as other years/models in the W123 series. Could a previous owner have changed the oil pan that accepts a different size drain plug? Any clue as to locating one that would work? Anyone need a drain plug? Ha!

If you are buying after market drain plugs they probably are oversize in the assumption that you have boogered threads and need to drill and tap to the bigger size. I suggest getting a good used factory plug. I probably have several but you may be able to find one locally easier.

Thanks, you are correct, these are aftermarket plugs. I will start looking for used ones. We have a pull a part that may have something...
