Temp gauge, AC compressor and rear defogger

On my 1995 E300 Diesel the temp gauge rarely gets above 90 degrees and that only happens on the expressway. Could it have anything to do with the antinoise capsule panels being removed?

Can't get the ac compressor to come on. I read in the E class Bible something about a relay getting wet and causing it not to kick on. Does this make sense to anyone?

The rear defogger is not working. Digging amoung the papers of the PO I saw that they had rewired the rear defogger because for some reason the aux fan shorted out the wiring in the fuse box and the combination relay (turn signals weren't working then either)

Does any of this make sense? All of it? some of it???????????

... why do you want the temp to get above 90?

The Eclass bible is reported here to be largely useless. I am not familiar enough with the later models to assist with the a/c issue. surely there are members here that will chime in with suggestions there.

if a PO had the defoggers rewired, it's LIKELY it was a poor job, and is the root of the issues with it.
