Two Lamp Questions

This is for a 124:

1. The reading lamp works on all settings, but it won't illuminate when I open the doors.

2. The center brake light doesn't come on (yes, I've changed the bulb).

Any thoughts as to how to troubleshoot these? Thanks.

When you say the reading lamp, do you mean the 10W tube bulb or the small 6w (?) halogen bulb? The small halogen bulb only comes on when you select it, it doesn't come on with the door.

Does your lamp failure monitor go off when you hit the brake?

Neither lamp comes on when the door is open.

No, the lamp failure light does not illuminate when I hit the brakes.
