Bobco, quick , delete your post,,, that will delete this one also... this has been discussed lately and everyone said I was crazy/stupid/whatever because I liked those three wrenches... I went to sears and got two 14 mm and heated and bent them so they would spoon, and ground the lower one , then bought the spring cap holder because my efforts failed when I tried to make that one myself... Lots of people swear they only used straight wrenches with no problem, some used only one bent one.. most said an adjustable wrench did fine for the spring holder... BUT I REALLY LIKED THE SET MB SUGGESTED A PERSON USE TO SET THE VALVES..... LOL.... Greg

Buy them cheap and bend them yourself

Greetings Bobco,

Seems like we are going to become MB pals one way or another. Yes, you could go out and spend $80 on the longer angled wrenches for the valve adjustment, but if you have a Wal-Mart near you, let's save some cash. Buy two complete sets of their metric pouch wrenches, you'll use the rest, I guarantee you that, at $6 a set, take the 14MM wrenches out of the bag and into a vice and bend them slightly using a hammer, no heat required, they won't break. The angle is slightly less than 45 degrees or whatever you feel comfortable using in tight quarters. The only advantage to buying the set sold at Performance products or anywhere else is the length of the wrench, but these are quite suitable and will accomplish the job.

Hard to justify 14 hours of travel

Greetings,

Gregg, it would be hard to justify that many hours on the road and days missed from work for an afternoon get together. I envy your wallet. Don't forget to get the giant size Big Gulp coffee for the trip.

At the Lake of the Ozarks Bobco

I'd have to envy you Bobco, semi-retirement sounds great to me. That would still give me a 40 hour week, but it beats the hours I'm doing now. I knew there was a benefit to being an hourly employee.
Bobco, I'm down here at the Lake, and I'm sure you know where that's at. I'm more so on the West end, or the quiet side they say between Camdenton and Climax Springs. Hey, if you think driving your Benz will be a problem, you can take my '80 300TD to the meet. Of course you'll need to fill the back end up with BBQ before you leave the ho down in Texas.
Hey, if you have a pic of your beauty, post it.
