Simple transmission question (I know, it's an oxymoron!)
I have a 722-357 transmission that works very well with one exception, in normal accelerating it holds on to 2nd a bit too long for comfort, and then tends to stack-shift into 4th. I tried slacking the control cable but that worsens other shift points. WOT shifting is perfect. Lots of vacuum. Maybe the orifices have been messed with over the years, but in general it works well.
My simple question: Does the vacuum have any influence on the shift points, or does it only affect the shift quality? I'm planning a fluid and filter change soon and wonder if I should get some parts to play with K1. Am I on the right track? Thanks. Bernie. 1994 E300 TurboDiesel Wagon 124193 603960 |

I've been dealing with stacked 2-3-4 shift forever. Shift kit didn't help. Tightening the cable helps.
I'd replace the K1 spring anyway. Sixto 87 300D |
