Front struts, bump stops and bellows

I am going to be replacing my front struts in my 87 300TDT. I have purchased "sport" struts. To that end, I am wondering if I still need the strut bump stop and the strut bellows.

I can see the bump stop at the top of the strut but there appears to be no bellow on the front struts. Do I want the bellows? Do I need the strut bump stop as I am installing "sport" struts?

I am also replacing the strut mounts as mine are being destroyed. I will upload pictures over the weekend...

Thank You for Any Advice!!!

I say get both. Your car came with bellows, as you call them. Either they were left out the last time the struts were serviced or they disintegrated. Are you asking if you should install or replace the bump stops? You might have to trim the bump stops if you're lowering the car.

Answer

Install them, unless you are lowering the vehicle.

There are different types of bump stops for different types of ride height on the W124.

Bump Stops

Thank You for the information MBeige! I have ordered a new set from Peach parts. :-) I am amazed at the breath of knowledge on this list...

BTW, your name came up regarding headlights. I just started a new post about my stolen front turn signal. If you could share some insight there, I would appreciate it! :-)

TIA,
glenn

You're welcome!

The same info I posted helped me source the correct p/n for the 190E bump stops I needed. Just passing it forward
