190d revived from dead. but for how long?
I just got the 190d started that had been sitting for 5 years. the problem was the rack that slides in the injection pump to shut off fuel was stuck in the off position. I took the cover off the side of the pump and noticed it was in the wrong position. I slid it back and forth and loosened it up a little. Then I filled the pump with oil. since it was dry. By the way what type of oil goes in the inj. pump? then cranked it til i got diesel from three inj lines. Tightened them and got the surprise of my life. It started! only problem it was wide open and the key woukdnt turn it of and the linkage wouldnt slow it down. finally I clmed enough to push the shut off lever. after what seemed an eternity but was prob 30 seconds. Didnt here it knock so hopefully I didnt hurt it. Wonder what I do to keep it from doing the same again.

While you work throught the bugs of the shut down system always keep the air cleaner off and you can hold your hand over the intake manifold opening to s/d.

the 190d has 4 separate openings for each cyl. It won't suck my hand through will it? I guess maybe I could get a board to cover all four.
