Transmission Drain Plug Seals/Washers
91 and 92 300D. I'm told that the drain plugs for the torque converter and the transmission pan have seals/washers (smaller aluminum and larger copper, respectively). Do these need to be replaced when the fluid is changed? If so, where would I get them (other than the dealer)?

Looks like they come in the kit but not if you purchase the filter and the gasket separately (which is what I did).

Where ever you purchased the filter and the gasket separately should have them.

10X14X1
10X15X1 all measurements in mm These are One (1) time use only, and would need to be replaced at each service. [I'm not EVEN going to get into your NOT being a Metallurgist] Call Phillip in the A.M.

(Does this mean they "Humor" people's apparent Eccentricities ?
Or "Crack" Jokes, Or Both ?) I'm convinced, that we're going to find out Shertex is a "Challenged" individual who is unable to operate search devices...at certain times. Or An errant Comedian software program.

"Search"
If I "Look" for my KEYS in the Ignition ,I'll never find them.
(They're not "Kept" there) 1.The FSM is (because of many reasons) just a representation of a Service Manual.Viewing it as the "Bible" for your model WILL INEVITABLY GET YOU IN TROUBLE. The Default for the location of Parts/Parts Numbers for Mercedes Imported into the United States is the EPC. I will admit, because of all the Folderol you must go through to even access the EPC,to sneaking off to the Verboten Parts Supplier's Website.'Cause they use Mercedes Parts Numbers and have Neat Pictures of the Parts.

They're both the same size. I find using the epc easy, but I have windows XP partition for that.

Automatic transmission fluid pan drain plug washer material.
For the 1981 240D, I.D.14mm, O.D.20mm, THK 1.5mm
The torque specified in the MB Maintenance Manual USA, Volume 2, page 2702, specifies a torque of 14Nm which is for aluminum washers. The copper washers which came with the filter kit supplied by Mercedes Benz required a much higher torque to prevent leakage. The final torque applied was 29.22Nm. Not sure if there are any damage to the mating parts, but the leak stopped. The Torque Wrench Deviation (TWD) of the torque wrench used (JETCO ED-50F, calibration range: 6.7 – 67 Nm) was + .1% at the application range. The washers (2 required) ordered from Mercedes Benz were made of aluminum PN: N 007603-014104, Seal Ring, Oil Filler to Oil Pan. Last edited by jotscan; 06-11-2013 at 04:16 PM. Jotscan, you should clarify what vehicle you are talking about because it must be different than the rest of this thread. This thread mostly discussed seal rings with a 10 mm ID, but the part number you listed is a 14x20x1.5 aluminum seal ring, so I doubt it is for the same transmission.
