Complimentary Clock Change????

Are they serious??? There are people who need to take their car to the the dealer to change the time on the clock for daylight savings time? I'm told (and this is the sole purpose of the flyer) that I "can come in for any scheduled service from now until March 31, 2012, and receive a complimentary clock adjustment today!" They go on to say "A properly reset clock is one less thing to worry about while you prepare to enjoy the warmer weather ahead. Trust Viti to take care of it correctly."

Scary thing is, this implies to me that they normally charge for such a service.

Today I spent 20 minutes explaining to someone how to type support.networkmgmt.com into their browser's address bar. Setting the clock on a modern car is often harder than turning a knob... people have trouble with it

Here's the complete text....came via email as well.

Come in for your complimentary clock adjustment
with any scheduled service today!

Dear xxxxxxx,

Spring is around the corner, and as the temperatures rise and we fill our calendars with fun plans, some things can get lost in the excitement. One thing we shouldn't forget is that:

Daylight Savings Time begins on March 11,
and the clock in your 1992 300D needs to be reset.
Come in for any scheduled service from now until March 31, 2012, and you'll receive a complimentary clock adjustment. We'll help ensure you're on time
for all your spring festivities.

A properly reset clock is one less thing to worry about while you prepare to enjoy the warmer weather ahead. Trust Viti to take care of it correctly.

Sincerely,

Viti

I'm not sure I would trust the MB dealer to change my clock. They don't seem to know how to do much else to these classic old MBs.

I think that's really nice of them. I'm going to bring in my 85 300td. Who wants to bet me that they don't discover $7,500 worth of needed repairs with some being urgent/critical?

Funny, viti is pretty decent. This is something I would expect from inskip.

"Any scheduled service comes with a COMPLIMENTARY headrest and mirror adjustment. Trust inskip to properly adjust these important safety components, at inskip, our technicians value your personal safety and comfort above all else."

I agree....as dealers go, Viti is pretty good and above board.

It's an MBNA thing. I believe they market their cars to folks that feel they need someone else to blow their noses for them. Come to think of it, that's a national trend.

I wish my Pioneer deck was in the wagon. That clock is a total pita. The instructions are totally whacked! I had to fiddle with it what seemed like forever, and when I finally did, I had to write notes for the next time.

Toss in free pencil sharpening and you will have more customers than Walmart on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Huh, you dont have to go to the dealer to have the clock set? They usually do it when I have my head rests adjusted, so why not?

It's important that those adjustments be made together. Otherwise, you might have to move your head to see the clock.
