Broke my key locks, Keyless entry?

Hey guys,

So I was working inside my doors and I managed to break the little plastic piece that connects the actual key mechanism to the lock mechansim broke, so now my door lock is unaffected by my key. From what I can tell, this is a common piece to break.

I think I'm just going to install a keyless entry system since I've wanted to do that anyway, and it would take care of my issue, from what i can tell. However, that's what I wanted to check on.

Despite that the plastic piece that connects the key lock to the internal lock is broken, I should still be able to hook up the keyless entry actuator to the lock mechanism, correct? I know this won't restore the functionality of the key mechanism, but I'm okay with that. As long as I can open the car from the outside.

I was looking at this kit...

Mercedes-Benz Keyless Entry with Actuator & 2 Flip Key Remotes - United Auto Security, LLC

The kit is actually $150 when ordered without the window modules and key cutting service. I know there are cheaper options/kits, but I like this one. I like that it's been optimized for a W123, and I lik that the fob has a flip-out key that can be cut to my car key. That's really cool IMO. haha

If I can still hook it up, despite the key lock not funtioning, I'll be sure to order that kit.

Thanks guys!

Unless you're lucky enough to quickly stumble across someone who has ordered that exact kit, the best suggestion I can make is to call them and ask if they can fax or email the installation instructions to you. Then you can look at them and see how it attaches. Some just attach to the rod, so you'd still need the rest of the OE mechanism functional.

Good luck.

I always forget to mention that, haha. It's a 1984 300D.
