URO brand flex disk

Has anyone used a URO brand flex disk? I know they are well known for their high quality parts (sarcasm intended) but they are about $25-30 cheaper than the oem ones. I'm most likely going with the ones sold here but I wanted opinions on the other brands before I pull the trigger.

If you were about to sell the car & leave town then they may be ok. If you plan on keeping it, best do it right so you are not back doing it again next year !!!!

Uro doesn't have a good reputation here for quality parts. With a high speed moving part like a flex disc a bad part can result in severe damage and possibly death with it failing at highway speed. This is one part I wouldn't skimp on. A leaky windshield seal or door seal while an annoyance, isn't a life threatening thing. The PO of my 240 blew out the front flex disc going about 35mph. Damage was fairly minimal, but still took some fixing.
Have a look through this post

I agree with the others. If the Disc comes apart it can result is some bad damage. This is one area you should get the best parts you can afford.

I put these on my 1991 560SEL last year while rebuilding the front end, installing a new a/c compressor and rebuilding the steering box. It was a beautiful car and my daily driver.

After 11 months, the flex discs let go with little warning. The damage was enough to rip the back of the transmission bracket clean off along with the transmission linkage and the drive shaft knocking around caused the air bags to deploy, effectively turning my car into a parts car.

A look underneath revealed that both flex discs were shredded.

All in all, I was lucky, had the drive shift hit the ground, it would have probably catapulted the car and killed me

This is a part you should not skimp on.

I'd be thinking about RE-changing those, unless you're looking to experience what its like when they fail....

On critical items like that, I wouldn't risk anything with URO. I would use URO, for example, on air cleaner bracket rubber mounts.

Sorry to hear that, URO should get you a replacement vehicle.

All 4 flex discs in my 300D and 190E have been replaced, all with OE (MB) parts from the dealer.

I got Fibi ones at auto-haus a few years ago. So far they're holding up fine.

There is a forum member here who actually works for URO.

His handle is URODan I think. I would love to hear his persective on this.

I remember there was some debate about mounting holes lining up on a URO waterpump.
