Is it ok to tuck the head liner into the rear window seal? (W123)

My rear window was broken this week amd I had it replaced. The glass guy tucked the headliner under the inner lip of the seal because he said it wasnt longer enough to put it where it was supposed to go. He said it shrunk, but it has always looked perfect to me. Is this ok?

no he just didn
t want to hassle with doing it right, it wraps around the pinchweld seam, He just wanted the car gone and the job paid for.

so what is the right order of operations for retucking it there? the wrap has to be done before the rear window seal is in place, right?

Take a look at number 16 in this DIY

PeachPartsWiki: Rear Window Seal Replacement

It should be pulled tight and glued in place before you fit the window + seal. If the headliner starts to sag you'll know why.

It is coming loose, I will be calling my insurance company tomorrow. This is BS. If the company who did it does not make it right I will be posting their information here.

Never mind the fact that vinyl stretches, not shrinks, especially in a climate like Phoenix, the headliner was perfect before these guys messed with it.

Now iam not too sure I would want them messing with it a second time. Now the window has to be removed to attach the headliner properly, as they should have done in the first place.

One has to wonder what corners this guy will cut replacing it a second time?

I had a back glass replace by a mobile guy here in Santa Cruz. he won`t be doing it again.

^^^^ Indeed - I can't imagine the rubber seal will survive removal - I mean even if it did; what are the chances it will leak when re-fitted?

I guess you'd need to use another new one.
