w210: fixing results of airbag deployment
got in a lil bender a while ago and the driver airbag went off. what do i need to get the airbag system back to normal?
-new steering wheel airbag-check -reset srs light-check -do i need to change the sensor too?

You'll need a new (unused) airbag and a new (unused) sensor, which lives in front of the ashtray, I think. Try to get both pieces from a junkyard car -- they're terribly expensive new. I paid $40 for the driver's airbag and $16 for the sensor at the local Pick and Pull 18 months ago, as spares for my '87 300D. Come to think, I should pick up a set for the '96 E300D, too.
Did the seat-belt tensioners fire? You may need to replace them, too. Jeremy

You should get access to a Mercedes scan tool and ask the airbag computer what units need to be replaced
At a minimum you'll need to do the computer, any external sensors, the airbag, possibly the steering wheel... Check the repair manual. A lot of components in the SRS system are one time use only. This is a quote from Uwe Ross, who makes a scan tool for VW cars, but it applies here: Quote:
