E300D injector return line seals
 

Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the injector return line O ring seals. I have a 98 E300D, and also the material they are made of?

I believe that the part nos are: 601 997 04 45, and 601 997 03 45.

I know I can get them mail order but I would like to expedite this task and its been my experience that O rings are common sizes similar to bearings. Perhaps the difference being the material they are made of.

I would like to source them locally if I can, and not wait for the mail order, plus I need exact dimensions because I only have the one vehicle and it would be difficult for me to shop for replacements since I live in a remote area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do what I did and buy a bunch of both sizes, plus the oil drain plug crush washer from Fastlane. For everything else, I bought a $7 metric oring kit at Harbor Freight - covers dipstick orings, fuel shut off valve orings, fuel filter banjo bolt orings and anything else.

You know that to remove the fuel pipes you push the white retaining clip toward the fitting so it makes a "ringer" like in horseshoes. This opens the grippy clamp thing allowing you to pull the fuel pipe fitting off/out. I hope I never have to buy another fuel pipe assembly as long as I own this car. Orings are cheap.

When you say "injector return lines", which are you referring to? The injector return lines are the small rubber lines that join the injectors and run to the filter housing. All of the plastic lines are essentially supply lines except the longer one that runs from the back of the pump over to the filter housing.

fryerpower.com (I think) sells a complete Viton o-ring kit for the fuel lines and delivery valves. These are resistant to bio-diesel as well as regular.

Return/supply, bottom line is that a supply of orings represented by the above part numbers will work on all plastic fuel pipes. There are crush washers that you need for the pipes with the metal banjo fittings. Phil can provide those numbers.

If you need it in a hurry I have seen weed eater fuel line used successfully for this application. I think it is available from Home Depot or Lowe's.

Whoops, my bad. I did mean supply lines. Any specific dimensions as to diameter, thickness, and hole size, and material would be appreciated.

Boy, I see why you want the info. One of the online sites I use wanted $3.46 for one O-ring.

Now you got the idea. Of course there's the possible issue of composition material, but frankly I doubt it. I have a diesel tractor that I used Harbor Freight O rings in without any issue. Harbor Freight is 70mi from here and if I just knew the exact size I'm sure I could source them here.

Tygothane is available through McMaster Carr. I am about to do this on my 606. I believe you need 1/4" OD tubing. I will know for sure once I am done.

KarTech's suggestion for viton o-ring kit from Fryerpower is a good suggestion.
