1975 300d seatbelt lockout question

Question: I updated my w115 300d to fast glows with immediate results on a bad engine. Put in a new used good engine and swapped over fast glows and get no glow at all! I disconnected seatbelt warning system on this car -does anyone know if this system tied into glow circuit? Weird to get no glow . . . . Relay fried perhaps?

I installed them correctly, only the firewall wire to new GP's, block ground is not attached on the other end. The first time I installed them, the start up was amazing, day and night -not sure what happened when the new replacement motor went in other than disconnecting the seat belt lockout connections -

possibly when you were under the dash, you knocked the relay wiring loose?
you could also have blown the fuse on the firewall, if you left the stock one in there...

The W115 relay will NOT work with the pencil plugs, I have heard that some people hve tried and it powered the plugs a couple times, but after that the relay refused to power the plugs.

The is no fuse on the W115 circuit, the relay has a OVP relay inside it which kills power if it draws to much power.

Search for my thread where I installed a W123 turbodiesel GP relay and wire harness in my old 1976 300D.

Next step was going to add a manual set up or . . . . . . return to old style GP"S which seem like a bad idea since just one of them going out can kill the whole gang, bad engineering on MB's part -thanks!

Best option is to install a W123 turbodiesel relay IMO

Looks like the way to go -
"So i ran a harness from the turbodiesel relay under the hood to the old harness at the original relay under the dash and spliced into 2 those wires(blue/green/black, violet)."

Question, how many wires (just two wires, yes) for harness? Confused by the above and what gauge and type of connectors did you use or did you just twist them together, etc.? Thanks!

4 wires total in the new GP relay harness.

The ONLY 2 wires you need from the old harness under the dash are the blue/green/black wire and the violet wire. The other 2 wires in the new harness are the ground wire(brown) and the other wire is for the light on the dashboard.

I just used normal barrel style connectors and crimped the wires on. There is no large current draw through these wires....

Update: Forgot I had the parts in the garage for the manual glow setup and wired in yesterday. Car has not been started in six months, it was cold and rainy in Napa yesterday, I glowed for 10 secs manually and when I say the car fired almost instantaneously, I mean it! Crazy fast start! I think I am going to like this set up and the ability to glow and afterglow based on my thumb - It does seem true regarding the GP relays on the W115 300D of 75/76 - they may work a few times with the fast glow GP's but after that, no juice going to the GP's - odd, but perhaps not so odd knowing now thanks to 79Mercy that there is OVP built into the relay -

Good deal. I think the best possible timer is the one God programmed into your head. Infinitely variable based on conditions.

Except the battery was drained down to nothing this morning . . . . . will double check wiring, as far as I know, the solenoid poles should be reversible but maybe not, may have to switch out some leads . . . . oy!
