Antenne question
This is the antenna in my car
I see its an Auta 6000 KE but which is the model number so I can order an antenna mast? Also there is a brown with blue wire not connected to any other wire. My pioneer head unit uses a blue with white stripe wire for the antenna power lead. I'm guessing the brown with blue would go to this wire? |

I see three that will fit. But clearly I would want to go with the 100% chrome plated version and not the chrome with black button or 100% black mast. |

Update
I connected the power antenna lead from the radio to the wire in the car that was left open. I verified the lead from the radio was giving 12 volts, it was. Hit the switch for the antenna and nothing. (note, there is no mast in the antenna so I am just verifying that the motor works) Check the wiring to the antenna and the red wire , grounded to the brown wire(blue left untouched) gave off 12 volts constant... weird? flipping the switch did nothing. The loom to the plug had electrical tape wrapped around it. Unraveled that and found two wires cut. Blue with yellow and a blue with light green I think... Anyways, both were cut and the plug had only three out of four plugs with wires. Taking note of that I then went to investigate the switch. Couldn't figure out how to remove the entire switch panel but did see the same colored wires in the tray for the console switches (light, hazard, antenna, etc) So I'm at a loss.. anyone care to help? |

A question to clarify: from the car harness you've got red, brown, blue, and blue+green, blue+yellow.
Two of those may not matter, based on the antenna, since it may only have 3-wires: http://products.hirschmann-car.com/SepiaPIMWeb/files/AUTA_6000_KE_PIN_Belegung.pdf It sounds like you had a five-wire with an adjustable antenna, but it was replaced with a 3-wire non-adjustable antenna. The two adjust wires (blue+) were cut. There's a picture here, but he's got the numbers reversed on the antenna. 1 should be 5 http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/car-audio-multimedia/261394-help-schematic-switch-antenna.html I'm a bit confused about where the brown+blue wire is. Is it a single wire coming off the antenna? Also, maybe more relevant info here. brown blue is in the cabin where the radio head unit is.
well it appears that I have a 3 pin connector for the antenna unit. I need to get a picture of the plug for the antenna. It looks similar to the photo in the "help!" thread. I think mine is missing the cover for the 5th pin on the antenna. So, could my issue be that its somehow still wired for a switched antenna when it doesn't need to be? anyone know how to move the panel that holds all of the switches above the CCU? I'd like to see what wires go to the switch. Last edited by TheDon; 04-10-2012 at 01:39 PM. |

Do you have a white wire or a blue wire near the HU in the cabin? Most diagrams say white for antenna wire, but they also don't list the colors for the adjustable antenna. If you've got the blu/white connected to the br/bl, and you're not getting +12 at the blue in the trunk, then I'd go back to the HU. You should be able to diagnose with a meter. The red should have power all the time (I'm pretty sure, since the antenna should be able to motor down after you pull the key out) blue should get power when the radio is turned on - assuming you've wired it correctly. |

I'll have to check that out.
I didn't do this wiring job, I would have done it properly. Troubleshooting someones screw up is not my favourite thing to do. |

The wiring diagram for your car is available here on disk 1. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/315946-mercedes-factory-service-manuals.html
It matches the harness colors for the antenna. You don't need the blue/gr or blue/ye if you can get a +12 off the blue when the radio is on. I didn't see a br/bl or a bl/br wire in the radio schematic, nor an alarm connection. Most of the alarm wires were brown/gray in later models. Becker's website shows an alarm connection for your year/model, but that may be generic. |

Cool,
I nabbed a proper 5 plug antenna from the junk yard today. How do I remove the switch panel up top so I can find that solid blue wire that goes to the antenna. I believe the "antenna lead" gives power when the head unit is on. |

Can't you just put a meter on the blue in the trunk? Radio off = 0, radio on = +12.
I'm a bit confused. Did you install the HU and connect up something to the Br/Bl wire? You could also remove the HU and check for a blue wire there. That's what I'd do. I've never pulled a 124 panel. Book says remove the knobs, remove the nuts, undo the screws just above the radio. Remove the trim, remove some more screws, disconnect the defroster swtich then pop it out. |
