confusion on pop test spray

some suggest an injector on an OM617 should produce a finely atomized spray
- others say it should be a stream that will atomize once it hits the ball inside the precombustion chamber. which is correct
i am using the Bosch SD 240 nozzles with the lateral and longitudinal holes in the pintle..

ty!

Within the last 3 weeks or so Hunter or someone else posted a place where they have a video of the spray patterns.

Should be a fine mist (not "stringy") in a tight jet of atomized fuel.

Yes, you shouldn't be able to "see" any drops, just the even cone of mist.

Streams of fuel are like blowtorches and cut right through glow plugs, prechambers, pistons....

As it's been stated you want a fine mist spraying evenly. You don't want a stream, droplets, or spray coming out unevenly.

I vote for none. But #6 is the best of the bunch.

I think those are gasser nozzles... they don't atomize the fuel as much.

Here is what you're looking for with the olde pintle style injectors: Quiet diesel technology

I think that Mercedes Injectors produce a pattern more like the one with the Red X but slightly more narrow.
