Vacuum circuit question

Hi all. Is it possible to use an alternate source for the small vacuum feed coming off the large vacuum line to the brake booster? There's an inline fitting of some kind in the large vacuum line (about 6" down the line from the booster itself) with a small nipple perpendicular to the large line. That nipple has basically rotted off and I've RTV'd the hole to plug the leak. Does anyone know:
a.) Is it possible to get that fitting anywhere?
b.) if a is no, where should I connect the small line that used to connect to the nipple? Is any specific vacuum level needed for that line? it appears to be associated with engine shutoff.
c.) Ditto with one of the 2 rubber-like vacuum fittings on the front of IP.

Thanks!

you have to replace the entire large vacuum hose. it's not expensive. vacuum from that line does indeed go to the engine shutoff.

It is possible to get serviceable fittings at the junk yard, but there is the risk of breaking them as they do get brittle as they age. For the large vacuum line, I've used 3/8 power steering return line (thanks to Diesel911 for the suggestion) which I actually like better than the hard plastic original one - more flexible and can be routed out of the way. Just carefully cut the plastic hose off to be able to use the original steel fittings- no clamps needed, as it is a nice snug fit.

I got this check valve at the JY as my original one kind of "wheezed" a bit and didn't always work properly. Just be especially careful in cutting the hard plastic hose off the plastic valve so as not to damage it or break the nipples. Also be aware that it's almost impossible to get the rubber hose off the fittings due to the aggressive barbs, so measure carefully and get it right the first time.
