Moving a Dead 300TD

my wagon is dead until I find a new IP.. I need to move it lower on the driveway but when I try to move it the brakes are locked, the vac system is empty (leaked) I tried to move the car back but the wheels dragged despite the car being in neutral. any ideas? My rotors are not rusty, and the brake system worked quite well when the car ran

I'd jack it up wheel by wheel to see which wheels are locked and investigate to find out why.

did that, both back brakes are locked up. thought it might have to do with the vac system being empty but now that I think on it, I dont think that has much to do with it. may just remove the calipers and hang them up to move it. then figure it out later.

Probably the parking brake is stuck. I assume you released the handle. They are small drum shoes underneath the rear disk rotor cap. If it sat a long time and you live in the rusty north, the shoes can stick to the backing plate. Just try rocking it and they should break free (pun?). If not, you may have to remove the rotor to look.

You won't get the calipers off without loosening their grip on the rotor. If you loosen their grip on the rotor, you won't need to take them off.

I'd still vote for the park brake if it's only the rears.

Maybe loosen the bleed screw? Or loosen the rubber line from the hard line to relieve pressure in the rear calipers? Or try pulling the pads (probably not if there's pressure).

You'll probably want to add brake work to the list with the IP.

I'll try the bleed screw, the parking brake pads are non exsistant, they are there but make no contact with the surfaces. even if you set the brake.

odds are good, water is in your lines, and the calipers are gunked up. or the master cylinder is damaged, or the rear flex line is failed internally forming a check valve to pressure... loosening the bleed screw will show this.

odd, I dont think there was moisture in there to begin with, but maybe from sitting and condensating etc? I'll look into it. I needed to replace the rear brakes anyways

Opened the bleeder screw, nothing. It appears of my calipers are frozen to the rotor, theres no wiggle room in there. It's like someone is stepping on the brake

You might squirt a little brake fluid or WD40 on the pads and tap the calipers with a hammer. Brake - ahem - them loose.
