0-60 time not good

On my 85 300SD my 0-60 time seems to be around 22 seconds.By what I've read it seems it should be around 12 seconds. What I have noticed is that before my plastic line from rear of intake was not connected when I did get the proper stud and hooked it up it seemed like a totally different car with pick up like a sprortscar but lately seems to have gone back to old self.I do have my kickdown switch under gas pedal unhooked because seems to shift better with it off but even when manually shifting to # 3 on the selector so it starts out in 1st and not 2nd I still seem to have slow pickup and blowing pretty good amount of black smoke out of exhaust it does not feel like my turbo is kicking in. I have had the plastic line off and it seems clear on both ends. I am thinking maybe my switchover valve is bad not letting the pressure go to the alda.To check the switchover valve could I unhook the line after valve and if I blow thru it with no restrictions would that indicate switchover valve is o-kay would I need key on with power to valve? Or should I just try to go directly to alda and see if that makes a differance. The plastic lines seem to be molded on the barbed fittings and would come off hard except maybe by heqting them 1st with a hair dryer and if I need some more of that plastic line where could I get it from? Does Phil at peachparts sell it?If i would take the alda off completly would I have to seal or cover the area where it goes into the IP? Would like to get some faster pick up out of this motor and a little higher top end then the 85mph it seems to have now.

Your ALDA may have failed. See if it holds pressure, and remove it to see if the rod contracts with pressure and/or extends with vacuum.

Hook up a boost gauge by teeing in right at the intake banjo bolt and crossover line. That will show if you're leaking at all or building boost. Also 12sec is a bit optimistic for an om617 powered sd.

Might also want to check the throttle assembly to make sure it achieves full throttle properly
