Blow by fumes in the cockpit.
Have a 98 E300D. Just recently changed the fuel line o rings. When I removed the intake manifold I noticed exhaust gas soot on the EGR coupling and also some black goo on the turbo boost pipe seal where it joins the intake manifold.
I just cleaned the boost pipe and used the old O ring for the seal. (Probabley a mistake), but the nipple fitting for the EGR was tightly clamped and when I got it apart the male portion, (manifold nipple was corroded). I wire brushed it to make a smoother fit into the female side of the exhaust tube fitting. Now I'm getting fumes in the car and I see that both are leaking again. Should I try to build up the male nipple fitting on the EGR inlet with some JB weld? How about putting some exhaust gasket RTV into the female side of the exhaust tube? I will replace the O ring on the intercooler tube and that should cure the boost PCV fume leak, but I would like to stop the EGR leak. I have already done the EGR delete, but that doesn't stop the exhaust from flowing to the closed EGR valve. Anyone with thoughts? |

I don`t know your engine, the 60X types. but with the 617`s you can make a EGR block off plate. not sure if that is doablemwith your engine.
we`ll bump this back to the top and maybe one of the guys with this type engine will chime in. Charlie
