rain drops right onto my toes

I've got a rain water leak in my dash area that allows water to drop onto the toes of my right foot on the accelerator pedal.

It's done this before while in motion in the rain, but yesterday I discovered this happens while parked too. As it started to rain with the car parked level I came out to find about 1/2 cup of water pooled in my rubber floor mat overlaying the carpet - no water actually hit carpeting so nothing is soggy or even moist below that.. It's entering from above and for a fact I know the drops will hit my toes from above if I'm driving. It takes a good soaking kind of rain for this to happen; mild rain showers are non-starters. It's almost as if something is filling and overflowing to spill over and allow water entry, but if the fill rate is slow enough it drains sufficiently to not spill into the car.

For people who've had the w124 dash apart and know their way around the cowl and things in that area, what's the most likely list of candidates?

p.s. I just got the windshield replaced, but this was happening before that so I don't think it's related to glass or gasket... but you never know. They re-used the gasket that was on there, I was told, because it didn't need replacing upon inspection - otherwise they would have.

I don''t know the 124 body drains etc, but could water be entering where the blower sets? Isn't it in the center vent? maybe getting in the heat/ac box and dripping out the ac water drain onto the floor? just a wild guess.

Check your AC drain tubes, there's a styrofoam type tube on either side that can go funny and let water in that way, IIRC there's also a cable pass through.... Check the Blower motor area as well. Those are your big candidates. I'll go through my Dash out pictures and see what else I can sea

the W124 has three drains under the windshield, two on the corners and one in the middle that drains below the car through a funnel going in the mid of the plastic parts.

The speedo cable hole faces downwards so I dont think it will actually let water in from above, it maybe that your centre blower tub drains are blocked and is somehow letting water in from the glued on cover that is mounted from inside the car.

The centre drains can be seen from under the car as two duckbill shaped funnels above the transmission, when I cleaned mine a cup full of dirt came out, but water drained very fast from it too after I cleaned it out.
