Where is the Modulator adjustment on my 300D?

My 85 300D has harsh downshifts when I come to a stop, kind of a little annoying thunk. I want to ease the shift pressure with the modulator adjustment. Thanks.

Remove the rubber cap on the modulator. Underneath there is an adjustment T-handle.

Ideally, you should confirm that you have proper vacuum levels before adjusting the modulator.

Where is the modulator, is it near the banjo bolt?

It's on the left side of the transmission, at the end of the (usually black) vacuum line.

To help you... we need more input from you.
Your tranny needs vacuum to work and no adjustment will fix a low vacuum system.
If you dont have a vacuum gauge you really need to get one.
I would suggest you get a mityvac which has a vacuum gauge built in.

The two small hoses coming off the brake booster are about the best places to check your total system vacuum. Take a reading there and post that so we can help you.

That would be foolish.

Find your vacuum leak and fix it properly.

You'll get yourself into all kinds of problems by simply reducing modular pressure.
