Use Whatever sealant you decide on SPARINGLY

Excess weight added to that Visor System does not help the Swivels or Hinges.

(I just used a few dabs of 3M's #08017 Marine Sealant (which is removable).

I also used hot glue. Some will say not to use it because in the summer the visors can fall out. I haven't had the car in the summer heat yet BUT I'm confident they aren't going anywhere. Use large amounts of the hot glue and hold firmly for 20-30 seconds. It worked really well.

Yeah, Iam one of them that said Hot Glue will soften up in a closed up car on a hot summer day.

I used it and had the mirror assy fall out on a 100deg day. I used plenty of the glue to hold. now maybe in a cooler climate it is great.

I had the local glass shop give me a few squirts of the Urethane sealant they use to hold the mirror in. It is never coming out, and I never want it to.

With the 100 degree temps both of my mirrors have loosened up. You are right, do not use hot glue if you live somewhere where it gets hot!

Used Gorilla Glue last night and it worked like a champ. Just remember to put some very heavy books/weights on top of the visor mirror units for 12 hours while the gorilla glue sets otherwise the expansion will mess them up.

A high-quality contact cement like 3M 8090, one that is designed to hold stuff in hot environments (like hood pads) might be worth a try.

I imagine the guys who are having problems with using hot glue are using lo-temp craft glue guns.

You need to use a high temp glue gun which heats to over 300˚ and uses a stronger glue stick than florists and crafters use.

Glue gun

I NEED an industrial grade glue gun if I'm going to start making boxes to ship large MB parts. Inquiring minds want to know. Details, please.

I too would suggest Gorilla Glue or any other brand of polyurethane glue. It works great for adhering two types of surfaces. Non-porous surfaces need to be moistened with some water before glue is added. It foams up and fills spaces as well, so use it sparingly

Here's a link for the glue gun. Use caution with it because the glue gets much hotter than a hobby glue gun.

Professional/Industrial Glue Gun
