on the side of the road
OM606 1995 E300. Stock, no mods.
Fuel shutoff valve on main fuel filter houusing has been leaking for awhile. replaced all but smallest o ring in center of valve (could not remove retaining pin). center smallest o ring seems to have disintigrated. Fuel now seeping badly above 2500 rpm and engine is eating air. lots of grey smoke. Need to get going. 150 mile trip in progress. anyone know if a om617 fuel filter bolt will work? any other help? If you're local I'm at the MtAiry Shell, just south of intersection of I-70 and Rt 27. |
An OM603 fuel filter bolt fits -- that's what my '95 has. Don't know about the OM617 but it's possible.

I'm pretty sure the 617 bolt is larger, and shorter than the 603/606 bolt... Thayer is near Mt Airy, ya want me to give him a call?

When you get mobile again, I can help you replace that last little oring. I've done it to two shut-off valves on my 95 606. A very small gunsmithing roll pin punch drives out that little pin allowing you to remove the stem and replace the oring. Do not try to drill it out. Simple fix now. The first time it wasn't so simple. Or, if you want to send me your old one, I'll send you one already to go.
