Motor mount bolt

The 8mm Allen head bolt stripped. Anyone else have this problem? And an easier solution than a grinder?

I haven't had this problem, so this is off the top of my head, but I wonder if you could find an appropriately sized easy-out screw extractor that you could tap into there and rotate it out. Normally, you have to drill a hole for the easy-out, but you've already got the hole with the Allen head opening.

Yeah. Pretty common problem. I used an "ez out" broken bolt/screw extractor thingy. A big one! Drill it, hammer the bit in slightly then screw out the striped bolt.

Hammer in a torx bit that will fit tight into the stripped allen= no drilling!

A little heat on the aluminum arm wouldn't hurt either. Just don't set the rubber mount on fire!

I will second the funola on the Torx bit method.

Drilling should be performed as a last ditch effort. The mount arms on the side of the engine block for that car will run you $300 from Germany.

What size bolt head? Remember you will have to be able to get a socket up into the frame to get to that bolt head.
