replacing leaking injector return line
Hey guys. Quick question! I'm going to replace a leaking injector return line hose. The hose will get delivered today. Is this as easy pulling the old one out and pushing the new one in? Is that all?

If the Hose is old enough if you only pull on it it will rip in two and leave a piece of Hose on the Nipple.
If you get a small Screwdriver and pry up under the Hose while you slowly pull on the Hose you have a good chance of getting the whole Hose off. If the Hose rips and a piece remains in the Nipple I have had some luck pinching the Hose over on one side with a Needle Nose Pliers; that often splits the Hose. What ever you do you need to avoid knicking the Nipple. |
Pretty much, but do not be suprised if the old ones break off and leave runner on the injector nipple. Use needle nose pliers to gently get the left over bits removed. Be careful not to nick or scratch the nipple, as that can cause a leak.
Hmm...what he said ^^^^ |
thanks guys!

Heat the old hose with a grill lighter-that will soften it up considerably

A cheapie Nail Puller can also be helpful.

Simpler=Better. Is there any danger of putting a flame on a hose that's carrying fuel?

Just received the hoses. Actually, it's just one complete hose. Does anyone what sizes these should be cut down to?

Ha! All hoses broke at the nipple. I didn't use the lighter method. I just warmed up the car. Got them out with needle nose pliers. The new hoses slipped right in. No leaking yet. I'll take the car for a drive soon.
Thanks everybody! |
