What is the Best AC compressor running 134a. 1981 300sd

I know people swear by the r 12 system but mine was converted already before i bought it. I have read the threads on changing it back but i dont want to mess with it.

Im trying to keep my repair of the compressor low but still get the coldest air that i can.

The vehicle was originally equipped with the R4 and that compressor is economical to procure and it will do a fine job for you in Socal ambients.
The preference for R12 really does not command a reverse conversion unless the ambient temp routinely climbs to 95°F. or more.

The key to success is a thoroughly clean system that is properly evacuated and filled exactly to specification. That's not an easy task for most folks.

I live in the Antelope Valley, ambient summer temps typically reach 110 plus. So that is the only reason that I advocate R12. Even on full, my W210 A/C struggles to cool the car down during the summer, even though the system is up to specification (yes, I checked).

It's a car not a science experiment! Open the throttle!

All well and good, but you need to look at the OP's location before making the recommendation. His ambients are not anywhere near the same as yours.

I Found a four seasons compressor at pep boys here for 192 brand new which is the way im thinking of going. Here in laguna we only get up to a high of maybe 85 once or twice a year at most...
