1999 E300D Turbo Intercooler Hoses ???
In the midst of replacing WP, Hoses, Alt, Shocks, Idler pulley, Fan, Tstat, I find two large dia hoses left/right of the radiator bottom.
My question is do these "feed" coolant from the radiator or another smaller radiator ?? I did not try to pull off the hoses, yet. If part of the raidator system, I might as well change with 270K miles on vehicle. Thanks in advance,

Transmission cooler hoses perhaps. I don't have a w210 so I'd wait for someone with one to weigh in.

Ought to be the intercooler feeding cool air to the intake.

Intercooler for turbocharged air. Inlet is at the passenger side, discharge drivers side.

Ah, he's asking about the hoses to the IC not the radiator.

Where is the air filter at? It should be in on the suction side of the turbocharger, not the discharge side which is the same as the inlet to the intercooler.
If there are no cracks/leakage you can run em. IIRC you will get a code if they leak. The IC is real easy to drop out of the car and is held on by a single fastener at each end.

Here are pics of the hoses, they look in great shape.

Leave them alone.
See the fastener in the ic in the second picture. Remove that and one like it at the other end and a couple hose clamps and you can drop the whole thing right out.

So this is just an air "scoop" which directs said air to the turbo ??
Takes a little longer for this tired WVa head to absorb ideas.... Thanks Jim,

The ic is an air to air heat exchanger that cools the charge from the turbo. This allows for more boost
![]() Air from the turbo goes through the ic where air passing through it (on it's way to the radiator) cools it down.
