Look what FedEx brought me today

Two high mileage badges for my 300D. I only checked the 500K box but they sent both pretty cool.

Fill out a form, have it notarized or a dealer sign off on it

Fill this out and send it in after having the dealer sign off on it.

This motivates me to get the paperwork filled out on my SD. Printed it out last year, but haven't gotten around to it...

Congrats !!! Now you have 2 things to put on the grill for shows and GTG! You might even want to just have it on there all the time.

I just did the calculation in google:
250 000 kilometers = 155 342.798 miles

I'm getting close in the 87 Champagne.

Blue Badge of Mercedes

I just received the 250000 km badge for the new-to-me 1995 E300D. Of the four Benzes I've owned, two were eligible but the owners didn't know (or hadn't bothered) and one had gotten the badge but never mounted it. The fourth rolled over 155000 miles under my ownership and I had it into the dealer that same day to get the form signed. Mercedes has a really nice program but dealers don't seem to know about it, maybe that's why owners don't either.

I find that it helps to spray the badge with clear coat before mounting it permanently on the grille.

Jeremy

Mine is sitting on my desk, ironically the badges that celebrate mercedes durability and longevity seem to not last at all when exposed to the road.

These newer type badges are a two piece, the badge, and then the milage part is seperate.

The older one`s had the milage as part of the badge, and also were not painted like the newer one`s. they were like a porcilin material, and had 2 brass screws that went in from the front side.

I came across one in a PNP that is 250,00KM. I only put them on when going to a GTG, along with the Mercedesshop.com Forum Badge.

Where are you supposed to place them on your grill? Is there a standard or common place?

See: Mercedes Service 001-450-68-02 revision C(1) "Badge Placement Instructions" [1994 and up] or 001-450-68-02 revision B(3) "Badge Placement Directions" [before 1994].

And if you believe that, I really want to sell you a car or two and a bridge. Seriously, I've seen badges placed all over the grille, doesn't seem to be a standard. Use a place that you like.

Note that the securing screws are rather long; make sure they don't protrude through and hit something as the hood goes up and down. Shorten the screws or move the badge. I had that problem with my '85 300D.

For security, I always double-nut the screws on the inside of the grille. Slows down the thieves.
