What flaws can you pick out of these pics?

85 300SD

it's mine.

I'm contemplating selling it.

Fading clear coat, dent in fender, wheels need painting, antenna gasket maybe

It looks like a nice car. Is this the one you were having transmission issues with a few weeks ago?

yup.
still having those issues too.
I'll get the car in a lot where I can get some good high res pics.
I actually see the fading clear as a bonus; it means the original MB paint is still on the car!
I have two members looking to get the car from me, and I really want to point all it's warts out prior to agreeing on a sale.

what DREAM pics you want of the car you are looking to buy? I'm usually the one buying clunkers and polishing them for my own pleasure... not much into getting one ready for sale.

SO... I know where to look for rust, and what to look for on the engine and transmission, and the rear axles, and what lines to look at to see if it's been wrecked or not... but on a good survivor that's lead a mundane life, what angles should I shoot?

yup. the mast stays up too.

the outer shell on the antenna is gone. I've got plenty of spares to fix that though...
one member wants it AS IS as low a price as possible. makes it simple for me. I'll know in a few days his decision on that one. after that, If I still have it, I'll detail the warts out, and have a pristine fully optioned SD for sale.
I thought it had all options, but apparently, in 85 you could get an airbag... this does not have that.
it's got everything else though. memory seats, heated, orthopedic, leather, abs...
are there any other options I should scour for on the car?

I would get some pictures of the headliner. That is something that is hardly ever on ads online.

You may come to be sorry you asked that...

- side profiles shot from low angle along the doorskin line to show if any serious lot bruises or bad bodywork.

- shots that show shutlines of trunklid and hood.

- closeup of lifting windshield and rear window seals to illustrate if still supple.

- lower corners of rear glass to show if clouding

- inside trunk with carpet and spare tire cover lifted, ideally so they illustrate no evidence of bodywork back there (excess 'butter', etc.).

- sidewall of tires to show brand/size.

- three or four shots taken under the car on a hoist, back to front, to show complete undercarriage. Closeups as well if anything recently done that needs illustrating.

- if the car is from a questionable area for rust, shots of the lower door sections to assess rust around bottom door seals.

- inside: state of dashboard top, zebrano around shifter, are door switches intact?, front seat surfaces, any mars or defects anywhere inside, closeup of brake pedal pad and odometer, top of steering wheel rim.

Maybe a reflection, but looks like both corners of the rear glass have delaminated.

The biggest flaw is that it isn't a 116.

I always like interior pics.

cool, nice.
I'm taking the car by the transmission shop today, so I'll get it up on the lift and get those undercarriage shots if there is a free bay.

and I'm not sorry. I want to be CERTAIN every flaw and bonus is in plain view for somebody to look over in advance.

I HATE HATE HATE it when I've looked over a car online, and it's got tons of hidden flaws found in person.
