cabin vents in W124.
If you W124 guys are facing problems like hard closing doors or lack of air circulation from the A/C then check the rear flapper vents on either side of the car, they are behind the bumper.
In trying to isolate a problem of road noise like an ajar door or window slightly opened I could not isolate any issues until I removed the inner trunk carpeting to remove the antenna assy, I found the vent installed backwards.. when I removed the other I found that too backwards and there was a lot of dirt and dust due to one flapper being held with thick dust accumulation. I think the bodyshop that worked on the car were completely nuts.. (its painted in Lexus pearl finish) or the stereo installer did it - because the PO had a bass box in it. When I cleaned and installed them - the car is very quiet now, the ajar door noise was due to this problem, the blower also blows a gale now with fresh air open and the doors close with slight effort. Im not saying that you guys would have backwards vents, but if they are stuck with dirt or something then it can cause problems

Good post, thanks. These flaps are one of those "out of sight, out of mind" things.
Would anyone have part numbers for these for my '91 W126? My originals are frayed and so are all the JY ones I have seen.
