Parts I should keep when parting out 350 SDL
I am preparing to trade my 91 350 SDL to an indie for A/C work he is doing on my 98 E300D. He has many used and salvage MB's and my 350 has a blown head gasket and broken radiator from same incident.
My 98 is a nice running car and I was thinking that perhaps I should remove the IP from my 350 for possible performance upgrade on my 606 engine at a later time. I'm not even sure if it fits but I seem to remember seeing on this forum that they are possible performance upgrade material for the 606. Any other parts worthy of hanging on to? |

The IP will be a complicated retrofit since the W210 has throttle by wire. Besides, the 606.962 IP has 6mm elements vs the 603.970 IP's 5.5mm elements. Keep it as a core to return or a base to send to Myna for the works. I don't think it's of much use to a W210 as is. Other ancillaries like the water pump, vacuum pump, oil filter housing and cooler, etc. are updated/upgraded on the 606 so only MacGyver would see the value. Keep them to sell maybe. Someone might be interested in the engine if the rods and head are good and it really only needs a head gasket. The IP might be worth keeping to sell too. Check around to see if the 722.3 is a beefier tranny than the 722.6 for when you turn up the HP.

Have you negotiated what the car is worth yet? If yes, he is counting on the car being in one piece and if you pull off parts the value drops.

Is the car being parted? Any chance you have a blue interior?

Yes, to blue interior. We have decided on value, but indie will gladly accept cash in lieu. He doesn't feel that 126's have much value any more and he has a glut of them.
Car has an excellent body, White with NO rust whatsoever. Spent its life as an interior FL and CO car. Driver's seat is worn badly, others are very nice. All accessories were working when gasket blew. 11,000ft. mtn. pass was just too much for the old girl. Pics are available if anyone's interested. Have to come up to some commitment by the end of this week. I have an extra very nice driver's seat, but it is Creme Beige. Will include with the car. |

I'm looking for an instrument cluster for a 350SDL. Maybe you or the indie has one?

I will be at the indie tomorrow, (Wed). I have already traded the car for services rendered and have a credit balance with them. If You like I could ask what he wants for the panel cluster and remove for you or you could contact them directly whichever you choose. Located in Colo. Springs. All cluster functions were working properly when I last recall.

Hello Buckstersdad.
I need just one fuel injector. You pick which one, lol. I need it to build an adapter for my compression tester. Shipping would be to 24523. Just let me know what you're thinking.

If Vitop does not contact you regarding the instrument cluster or if your indie has another, I am interested... I need a tachometer. Thank you!

I visited the Indie today. It was actually quite an event. Folks, I got to tell ya there's so much more important in life than automobiles and parts. Colorado Springs is TRULY at risk of losing not just 100's but perhaps 1,000's of homes and businesses. The winds here are horrendous. Variable at any time with gusts in the 40's to 50's. How can you fight a fire when it can reverse on you at any moment.
May God Speed all the fire fighters and other personnel. They're working in 100 degree heat not counting the fire and smoke. The shop was open minus some mechanics whose homes were at risk. For the specific questions about instrument panel, seats, crankshaft, injectors, etc., please IM or email me and I will get back to you about how to proceed. Bear in mind that I no longer own the car, but the shop owner will be happy to work with you and I'll advise you on how to get in touch with him. All of the items listed above were in good working order when I last drove the car. (At the head gasket incident 1yr. ago.). |
