Ate versus Bendix front calipers

2 items: YES, I tried a search, and yes, I know whatever you have, they must be in pairs (2 Bendix or 2 Ate)

The question is, are the calipers interchangeable ?
Will the mounting brackets and flex hoses interchange one brand to the other, or do you have to change more than just the calipers ?

Thanx.

The FSM doesn't require the same brand, per se. It specifies that the bore size be the same. (Sometimes, that excludes different brands on the same axle; sometimes it does not.)

Yes, but not necessarily on an individual basis.

Thanx to both of you.

For some reason, Ate are more expensive than the Bendix, but the killer is the core charge and return shipping on the Ate. No core on the Bendix. ?
Give me a chance to get rebuild kits for the old ones and put on the shelf for use when needed.
Another go figure ?, loaded calipers are cheaper than semi-loaded and a set of pads !

Thanx again for the quick response.

Jerry

I like the ate better because the pins are a better design. the bendix work fine too though. I have no idea on why the ate has a core charge and the bendix not.

ATE's also have thicker pads than Bendix... or is it the other way around? I'll check in the morning.

I found out recently that my car has one bendix and one ate. Definitely have pull to the ate side under braking, so yes please make sure they are replaced in pairs! I replaced mine with an ate and all was well.

The W123 FSM, for one, suggests otherwise.
