My tank is leaking (1987 300tdt) i am going to first try and replace the o rings on the in tank filter,i dont want to buy a new filter because i can just clean it,i am wondering if the o rings are available by themselves.

Harbor Freight sells O-rings by the box with an assortment of O-rings. I think it is 400+ for $7 but don't count me on that. This is what I did. I cleaned the tank filter and installed it with an O-ring from the box. The assortment of O-rings is extremely handy and good value.

They actually sell four sets of o-rings in nitrile rubber; one with a few like two hundred and one with more. They have both metric and standard sizing. As a note, the two different quantities contain different part numbers. So buy them all to get maximum coverage... I did! Hard to beat for the price. Plus there is a handy thickness gauge built into the cover.

for any o-rings that are in contact with oil or fuel, i prefer viton. mcmaster sells viton o-rings in metric sizes.
