Missing Vacuum Reservoir 240D?

Hi guys,

During a thread where I discovered missing fender liners on my 240D, WHunter mentioned that the photos (seen here) indicate that I'm missing a three chamber vacuum reservoir.

Specifically:

FYI:
There is a second larger (egg crate) vacuum reservoir MB# 1238001419 attached to the bottom of the parcel shelf area, above the fuel tank.

.
Can you guys help me figure out exactly what's missing and what I need to do to restore it back to the original function?

Sincerely,

Packer

Which 240D do you have?

From your year it could be that there is a bit missing whunter is a reliable person to listen to!!!!!!

However, if you want to check for yourself you can have a look at the EPC data either at EverythingBenz - Mercedes-Benz Forum and Web Search Using Google or www.startekinfo.com

Here's a picture of the system on a 123.125 chassis for example...
Check your VIN

I tried looking up that part number. The description seems to indicate that this is the vacuum reservoir for the climate controls. Am I missing something here?

I have only seen the vacuum resevor for a W123 sedan, in the trunk above the fuel tank. I have removed several fenders and never seen a Vac tank behind the fender.

Packer, look above your fuel tank, you will see the vac tank. black plastic. may have to remove the carpeted panel covering the fuel tank, (4 8mm screws).

Hi Charlie

Yes I've seen that tank when I was repairing the trunk area. On the 240 at the PNP I removed the fender liner and there was no vacuum chamber. I am certain because I looked.

I'm confused for sure.

Just check with Fastlane / dealer / EPC to see if it was meant to be fitted to your car or not. This is a VIN related "should it be fitted to my car" problem. If the computer says no then you're good to go.

That reservoir is used mostly/only on petrol-driven cars.

That's not right, this is a vacuum reservoir used in conjunction with central locking code 466.
