Went to PNP with my son for an alternator and found this Lecarra
steering wheel inside a completely trashed out 300SD.

20$ and it was ours.
Oh yeah, we also got the alternator.

Funny thing, it was all there except horn mechanism that goes
under the wood center; someone had unscrewed the center, taken the
horn and then left all the wood. ???

It just takes a large allen wrench for the center steering wheel screw;
vice grips to hold the small end; broke loose quite easily.

You are indeed fortunate. The steering wheels I have removed have required a half-meter breaker bar on the 10mm hex bit.

Would be a shame to wreck that beautiful wooden center by blowing up the airbag -- so don't get in any accidents!

The W123 weighs about 4500 lbs if I am not mistaken. Don't need no stinkin' air bag.
