Heads up cheap dealer part - W123 skid pan / skid plate

G'day Folks,

200T over on BenzWorld got a bargain from the dealer last week

Factory skid plate installation how to - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

I don't know for sure if the price drop is world wide but I've ordered one quick!

Unfortunately they haven't reduced the price of the floor pan I need so I'm still holding out on that one...

Anyway pop over to the other side (follow the link) for the part numbers of the clips and the little rubber bits you might want to order as well!

Apparently you would need two of these 124 987 07 40 - but I've just been informed that they come with the skid plate - see BW thread.

I called my dealer and he quoted me $76 for the skid plate. I pressed him further and he says there's only 23 left in the country.

Oh no! This is getting worse and worse.

It looks like I've found a niche in the market if only I could organise cheap shipping.

(Which I can't - I've tried and tried and tried and I can't)

I went to an online Genuine Mercedes Parts seller and the MSRP was $95 and the Plate was selling for $72.

So I would call another Dealer and see what they have to say.

My dealer was able to order one for me

Perfect timing that these are in stock again because my oil pan needs to be replaced... and I don't want to have this problem again! Hopefully this will protect it.

Yes! Got one for each car!

Been wanting these for years, found the thread linked in #1 a few days ago, but once word got out on here, I figured I better jump on them!

Told my dealer these might be the only two of these he sells all week!

Just ordered two for my cars.

Apparently there are now 17 left in the US.
13 in New Jersey and 4 somewhere in Montana.

Maybe you could just get on a plane and stuff a bunch in a suitcase as luggage,....I wonder if a five speed and a flywheel would fit in a suitcase? I need one of those too.

The last time I got on a plane going that way it was with Delta ****lines - I'll not be flying with those wankers again. My plan is to win the lottery four times and then buy the Queen Mary II and sail over in style without bagage restrictions. Wish me luck.
