I would first talk to Phil here at Peach Parts. If he can't get it, which would be rare, then try ********AZ. They consistently have good stuff. Then of course there is the stealership.

I guess listing another parts house is not allowed. I didn't realise that. It's an on-line place in AZ. There is also the MB classic center in LA.

Usually, on these cars the U-joint spiders are staked-in-place at the factory and not supposed to be replaced. You may need to find a driveshaft rebuilder, or buy a new driveshaft section containing the U-joint.

The MB U-Joints are staked in and do not have the clips that most U-Joints have. so not just your garden variety DIY.

I had the 300D and then later on the 240D replaced at a Driveline shop. I had the 240 done last summer, new joint, center support bearing and the centering bushing on each end and balanced for $300.
I had mine done by South Bay Driveline in San Jose, Ca.

there is also these guys in San Antonio.Tx.

Thanks for the info. I've replaced pinned joints before. Just use a prick punch to peen yoke. The trick is getting it centered.

The Yokes have flat sides that a person could use a Depth Micrometer or less accurately a Vernier Caliper to Center the Bearings.
The issue is if during staking you puch them in further or they creep out if yo do not punch the in tight enough.

In my case I got the Caps centered but gestimated the spacing of the Caps.
So far I have had no issues; but I am not a high milage driver.

Not sure about a 300CD, but my 220D has two flex disks and a u-joint in drive shaft. The u joint is just in front of the center bearing (if I recall correctly). My "shop" quoted me $1000 to replace the u-joint. Ugh.

yeah, the diff, and transmission have flex discs, but the center of the driveshaft is a staked in U-Joint... and replacement of it is NOT simple.

... MOST u-joints are set into a pattern, and they have a spot that feels bad...

Mine has one.
On the parts diagrams some Mercedes have 2 U-joints; don't know what application they are used on.

And, I also have the 2 Flex Discs.

Also notice in the Pic that mine is not flexing as it should.

At the time I started the U-joint thread there was an online Mercedes Dealer that sold the Drive Shaft with U-joint for around $275. It is also too heavy to qualify for the free shipping.

If you wanted to go the new Shaft route you could call Phil and see what he can come up with.

Other makes of Cars also use the staked U-joints. Ford actually has a kit for one of their makes. It had something like a Hole Saw to cut out the staked area.

Yikes, for that price, I could drive down and pick it up, get it repaired and bring it back to you for probably $400. what kind of a shop did you go to? man talk about mark up.

I can take one out in about 20 min, depending how tight rusted the bolts are.
