OM617a-Accidentally popped a wire out of sensor or something between gp 1 & 2

I was changing out my glow plugs (which was a process in itself) and while putting everything back together I accidentally snagged a wire and popped it out of a plastic connector that was plugged into the cylinder head behind the ip, between glow plugs 1 & 2. What is this? Do I just solder the wire back onto it?

temperature sender for the gp relay? follow the wire and see if it goes to the gp relay box on the drivers side fender behind/near the headlight area

that could be the temp sender for the dash gauge. soldering the wire back to the connector should restore it's function.
